Renegades Roll Past Gamblers 36–17 Behind Reed’s Record Day

The Dallas Renegades delivered a dominant performance Saturday night, defeating the Houston Gamblers 36–17 behind a record-setting outing from quarterback Austin Reed.

Dallas set the tone early when cornerback Steven Jones jumped a pass and returned it for a pick-six midway through the first quarter. Although the two-point try failed, the Renegades never looked back.

After Houston answered with a field goal, Dallas began to pull away in the second quarter. A 3-yard touchdown pass to Ellis Merriweather extended the lead to 13–3, followed by a 14-yard scoring strike to Tyler Vaughns to make it 20–3. A late 51-yard field goal pushed the halftime margin to 23–3.

The Renegades wasted no time in the second half, as Reed connected with Greg Ward Jr. for a 66-yard touchdown on the opening drive, stretching the lead to 30–3. Houston responded with a spark—a 93-yard kickoff return touchdown by Jalen Moreno-Cropper—but couldn’t sustain momentum.

Dallas added a field goal in the third quarter and continued to control the game defensively, forcing multiple turnovers on downs and capitalizing on Houston mistakes, including interceptions that shifted field position.

Houston found the end zone late on a short quarterback run by Kenji Bahar (or Dekkers if preferred edit), but the outcome was never in doubt. The Renegades sealed the win with a late field goal.

Reed finished with a league-record 375 passing yards, leading a balanced Dallas attack that proved too much for Houston.

2026 is shaping up to be a thrilling year for Canadian soccer enthusiasts! As challenging matches loom on the horizon—including an opening clash in Toronto on June 12th against Italy—this World Cup promises to be unforgettable for Canada. The second match in Group B, on June 18th, will see Canada face the 2022 host nation, Qatar, in Vancouver. Head Coach Jesse Marsch views this as a prime opportunity to bolster the goal differential, which will be critical within a group that includes two formidable European teams vying for dominance. Canada's final Group B encounter will also unfold in Vancouver on June 24th, pitting them against the rising powerhouse of Switzerland. The national team will be fortified by superstars such as Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich), Theo Bair (FC Lausanne-Sport, Swiss), and Jonathan David (Juventus). Interestingly, Canada's goalkeepers, Owen Goodman (Barnsley) and Dayne St. Clair (Inter Miami), may steal the spotlight throughout the tournament. The strength in depth that Canada possesses will be vital against both European rivals, and we can expect to see a fierce offensive from unexpected scorers like Jacob Shaffelburg of MLS's LAFC, who is riding high after a successful season with Nashville. If Canada can secure a victory over Qatar and either win or draw against Switzerland, they stand a good chance of advancing as the second-place team in Group B, potentially emerging as the best second-place nation in this new format.

This wasn’t a miracle; it was a moment of magic. Forty-six years after the unforgettable “Miracle on Ice,” the U.S. men's hockey team delivered yet another thrilling chapter in Olympic history by overcoming Canada 2-1 in a nail-biting overtime. Jack Hughes sealed the victory with a lightning-fast shot that sent shockwaves through the arena, and for the American players, this gold medal wasn’t just about glory; it was a heartfelt redemption, particularly against their archrivals. Goalie Connor Hellebuyck stood tall, defying relentless Canadian attacks. Jack Hughes set up the decisive scoring chance with a precise poke check in the U.S. end, allowing Zach Werenski to dash up the ice and seize the puck. The U.S. triumphed over Canada to secure the gold medal on Sunday. Zach Werenski and Matthew Tkachuk proudly carried Gaudreau’s No. 13 jersey around the rink as a heartfelt tribute to the hockey player. "It means the world — we all understand he belongs here with us," Dylan Larkin remarked. "He should be with us. We care for him deeply, and I appreciate that we keep him in our thoughts; I can't envision it any other way."

What a thrilling conclusion to the inaugural international All-Star tournament! In a showdown that had everyone on the edge of their seats, Team Stars dominated Team Stripes with a 47-21 victory, clinching the title in style.

In a historic clash, Super Bowl 60 showcases the New England Patriots, spearheaded by the promising Drake Maye, going head-to-head against the experienced Sam Darnold and the Seattle Seahawks. Both teams feature tenacious defenses, setting the stage for a riveting showdown between the Patriots' first-year head coach, Mike Vrabel, who is reshaping the team’s legacy, and second-year coach Mike Macdonald, who is striving for another Lombardi trophy for Seattle. As the Patriots chase their unprecedented seventh Super Bowl title, Darnold’s outstanding performances, highlighted by a thrilling victory over the Rams, have primed the atmosphere for a captivating rematch. After a relatively subdued outing by his standards in the Seahawks’ playoff opener, Jaxon Smith-Njigba demonstrated why he earned the NFL Offensive Player of the Year title with a jaw-dropping display in the NFC Championship Game. The former Ohio State standout, who recorded three receptions for 19 yards and a touchdown in the Seahawks’ divisional round triumph over the San Francisco 49ers, exploded with 10 catches for 153 yards and a touchdown in Seattle’s nail-biting 31-27 victory against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

The 23-year-old Maye, a contender for AP NFL MVP and Offensive Player of the Year, is set to become the second-youngest quarterback to start a Super Bowl, following in the footsteps of Dan Marino. He is also the fourth second-year quarterback in the last seven years to guide his team to the NFL championship game. Patrick Mahomes (2018) emerged victorious, while Joe Burrow (2021) and Brock Purdy (2023) fell short. The AFC champion, New England Patriots, enter the Super Bowl as the second seed from the AFC and are set to battle the overall top seed in the NFC, the Seattle Seahawks, who boast the highest-scoring defense in the NFL.

Week 17 of the regular season saw the breaking and setting of NFL records.

On his 29th birthday, Cody Ford pulled off a jaw-dropping moment during Sunday’s 37-14 win over Arizona, leaving fans and teammates alike in awe. The 345-pound offensive lineman’s unexpected catch around the 18-yard line showcased not just his surprising agility, but also his determination as he bulldozed down the sideline, breaking two tackles for a solid 21-yard gain. This remarkable play tied for the third longest reception by an offensive lineman since 2000, making it a highlight of the game.

During the Giants' Week 17 victory against the Raiders, QB Jaxson Dart established a franchise rookie record by scoring his ninth rushing touchdown of the season—an unprecedented achievement for a Giants rookie quarterback. This milestone also placed him alongside the ranks of the third-most rushing touchdowns by any NFL rookie QB in history, with only Billy Kilmer and Cam Newton ahead of him.

Saints rookie QB Tyler Shough achieved a career-best by throwing for 333 yards and two touchdowns against the Titans, completing 22 of 27 passes for an impressive 142.7 passer rating. His performance led the team to a second-half comeback victory, marking his second straight game with over 300 passing yards—a milestone last reached by C.J. Stroud during his rookie season.

Trey McBride has etched his name in NFL history by setting a new record for the most receptions by a tight end in a single season, eclipsing Zach Ertz's previous benchmark by hauling in his 117th (and later 119th) catch of the 2025 season. Additionally, he established a new franchise record for the Cardinals in single-season receptions, surpassing DeAndre Hopkins' tally, while also becoming the first tight end to achieve multiple seasons with over 110 catches and scoring his 11th touchdown.

On Christmas Night, Bo Nix etched his name into NFL history by becoming the only quarterback to secure 20 or more wins, surpass 7,500 passing yards, and throw for over 50 touchdowns in his first two seasons. He also joined the ranks of Peyton Manning and Justin Herbert as the only QBs with over 3,500 passing yards and at least 25 touchdowns within their first two years. Additionally, he recorded the second-highest number of wins (23) for a quarterback in their first two seasons, only trailing Russell Wilson. Bo Nix now stands alongside Dan Marino as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to achieve at least 20 wins, over 7,000 passing yards, and more than 50 passing touchdowns during their initial two seasons.

The Titans' rookie wide receiver, Chimere Dike, has shattered the NFL record for the most all-purpose yards by a rookie in a single season, eclipsing the longstanding mark held by Hall of Famer Tim Brown since 1988. This remarkable achievement breaks a nearly 40-year-old record, underscoring Dike's impressive beginning to his NFL journey.

For the Bengals, Ja'Marr Chase made history by becoming the first player in NFL history to record 80+ receptions, 1,000+ receiving yards, and 7+ touchdown catches in each of his first five seasons—a remarkable display of consistency that underscores his exceptional career beginning. He accomplished this milestone by securing two touchdown receptions in that game, elevating his season totals to over 80 catches, 1,000 yards, and 7 TDs, and joining Randy Moss as the only players to achieve 7+ receiving TDs in their first five years.

Xbox Bowl - Arkansas State vs. Missouri State

Entering the contest, Arkansas State had triumphed in three consecutive road games for the first time since 2015. Notably, the Red Wolves were the sole team in the nation to start the season 1-4 and still secure a spot in a bowl game within the Sun Belt Conference. The action kicked off with Missouri State's opening drive fizzling out, leading to an early punt that allowed Arkansas State to seize control. Starting from their own 40-yard line, the Red Wolves wasted no time, scoring a rapid touchdown in just six plays, taking a 7-0 lead with 10:59 remaining in the first quarter. Although quarterback Jacob Clark delivered some impressive plays, including tough runs that carried him to the Arkansas State 43-yard line, Missouri State's efforts were halted by a crucial sack that forced another punt. Capitalizing on the momentum, Arkansas State extended their lead to 14-0 before Clark orchestrated a brilliant 36-yard touchdown connection with wide receiver Dash Luke, narrowing the score to 14-7 as the quarter wound down. As the first quarter concluded, tensions mounted with Arkansas State eager to maintain their momentum. By halftime, Arkansas State had established a commanding 24-7 lead, thanks to an early second-half field goal and a 4-yard touchdown reception by sophomore Chauncy Cobb. Unfortunately for Missouri State, they struggled to find the end zone until the fourth quarter, when Ramone Green Jr. caught a 15-yard touchdown pass, followed by an unanswered 47-yard touchdown from Dash Luke that narrowed the score to 34-28 late in the fourth quarter. Riding this surge of momentum, Missouri State added another touchdown with 1:54 remaining in the game, as J Robinson made a 16-yard touchdown reception, prompting an onside kick attempt that was recovered by Arkansas State, sealing the game at 34-28 and granting the Red Wolves their first-ever Xbox Bowl victory. The offensive MVP was receiver Corey Rucker, who recorded six receptions for 166 yards and a touchdown, while Kyle Taylor earned the defensive MVP honor for Arkansas State, boasting 10 tackles—four of which were solo—alongside one deflected pass, as he pressured the Bears throughout. Arkansas State looks to carry this momentum into 2026, solidifying their presence in the Sun Belt Conference during the College Football Playoff era.

On Sunday, Josh Allen's legs carried him straight into NFL history as he rushed for an 8-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, marking the 76th of his career and breaking a tie with Cam Newton for the most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback. In a game where the passing game struggled, Allen still managed to contribute with 38 rushing yards, showcasing his dual-threat capability. The Buffalo Bills boasted a dominant rushing attack, amassing 249 yards, with James Cook leading the charge at 144 yards. After a dazzling performance in Week 11, Allen returned to the spotlight, proving that his impact goes well beyond the airwaves. Allen emphasized the significance of the Bills achieving success in the later part of the season as a collective unit. He remarked, "We found a way to win, and that's what truly matters." Next week, the Bills, along with Allen, will host the Bengals before embarking on two away games against New England and Cleveland, followed by home games against the Eagles and the Browns. With Allen performing at an MVP-caliber level, the Bills have a real opportunity to secure a Wild Card spot and potentially overtake the Patriots in the AFC East, especially with some favorable outcomes from New England's upcoming opponents after their bye week.

As we edge closer to the CFP playoffs, it's easy to focus on the big names like QB Fernando Mendoza from Indiana, a true Heisman hopeful. Mendoza's impressive 299 passing yards, coupled with his 4 total touchdowns, has earned him the top spot on our list. But let's shine a spotlight on some Week 12 standouts who might have flown under your radar! Wide receivers Andrew Marsh of Michigan and Wyatt Young of North Texas are making waves. Marsh isn't just a true freshman for Michigan; he broke a single-game record for freshmen at the school since 1979 with an incredible performance on Saturday, recording a career-high 12 receptions for 189 yards and setting up a game-winning field goal with a spectacular 21-yard catch. Young provided North Texas with a consistent flow of dynamic plays, ending the game with eight receptions for 143 yards and a touchdown. His impressive average of 17.9 yards per catch propelled the Mean Green to a victory over UAB on the road. Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq delivered a standout performance, recording 8 receptions for 96 yards and 1 touchdown. The Stud of the Week award is presented to running back OJ Arnold from Georgia Southern, who showcased an impressive performance with 393 total yards of offense, including five plays over 50 yards—a true career highlight. He rushed the ball 21 times for 267 yards and two touchdowns, marking the fifth-highest rushing yard total in a single game in Georgia Southern history. In addition, he recorded four receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown, as well as throwing a 73-yard touchdown pass. Notably, he is the first player in Georgia Southern's history to rush for a touchdown, catch a touchdown pass, and throw a touchdown pass all in the same game.

On defense, watch out for safety Jakobe Thomas from Miami (FL), who wrapped up the game with two interceptions — one of which he returned for a touchdown — along with a pass breakup. Cornerback DJ Barksdale from James Madison made a crucial interception against Appalachian State and added 3 tackles to secure a dominant victory. Tre'Quon Fegans, CB for Jacksonville State, recorded 3 tackles to propel the Gamecocks to the top of Conference USA.

EDGE rusher John Henry Daley from Utah was a formidable force against Baylor, recording 4 tackles and, more crucially, reinforcing the Utes' defensive line in the run game. Keep an eye on these emerging talents!

As the season heats up, the Buckeyes find themselves in a prime position to chase not only a Big Ten title but also a coveted No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff. With a chance to defend their national championship, the stakes are high—especially considering that a win in the title game could mark three consecutive championships for the Big Ten. Fortunately for Ohio State, their final stretch features four unranked opponents, significantly reducing the risk of injuries that can arise from facing tougher competition. The Big 10 has the potential to secure both teams competing in the Big 10 Championship a place in the playoffs, and more crucially, a first-round bye. With a victory this weekend against Maryland, Indiana University is poised to be one of the four teams projected by the Committee to earn a bye. The Hoosiers significantly boosted their prospects after a commanding 56-6 win over UCLA last Saturday. Their upcoming schedule looks favorable, facing only one additional opponent (Maryland) with a winning record. Meanwhile, the SEC is on track to deliver two teams for the CFP bye, as Alabama’s triumph over South Carolina keeps the Crimson Tide in a strong position for a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff. Alabama and Texas A&M may well contest the SEC Championship, provided both continue their winning streak in conference play. With the way Texas A&M is performing, they’ll head into a bye week before facing No. 15 Missouri, South Carolina, Samford, and No. 22 Texas. Alabama will conclude the season against LSU, Oklahoma, Eastern Illinois, and Auburn. Don't be surprised if the final College Football Playoff brackets reveal the standings as 1. Ohio State, 2. Indiana, 3. Alabama, and 4. Texas A&M.

In an unforgettable Sunday showdown, Minnesota Vikings CB Isaiah Rodgers made history as the first player to score two defensive touchdowns in a game. He electrified the field with an 87-yard interception return and a 66-yard fumble recovery, leading the Vikings to a dominant 48-10 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. With two forced fumbles and two pass breakups to boot, Rodgers is a shoo-in for NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors, becoming the first since 2000 to achieve such a feat. Meanwhile, Caleb Williams showcased his prowess with four touchdown passes and a stellar performance that solidified his status. On the receiving end, A.J. Brown exhibited a stellar performance, finishing with six receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown. Justin Herbert threw for 300 yards, completing 28 of 47 passes and tossing in one touchdown, guiding the Chargers to a perfect 3-0 record and establishing himself as a legitimate NFL MVP contender. Herbert also became the second-fastest QB to reach 2,000 career pass completions in NFL history. Special recognition should be given to the Philadelphia Eagles' Special Teams and Jordan Davis for their crucial game-winning field goal block, which he then returned for a touchdown. Additionally, the Cleveland Browns defense deserves praise as well.

What a night for the Hoosiers! Led by quarterback Fernando Mendoza, Indiana completely dominated the Fighting Illini, scoring a staggering 56 of the game’s final 59 points for a 63-10 blowout. It was more than just a win; it was a statement that silenced critics who doubted the legitimacy of their outstanding 11-win season. Indiana seized control from the get-go, making a top-10 Illinois squad look completely outclassed. With seven straight scoring drives and an astonishing ground game that outgained the Illini 312-2, the Hoosiers racked up 579 total yards while their defense stifled Illinois to just 161. This performance solidified Indiana's place as a force in the Big Ten and set the stage for even bigger conversations ahead. Mendoza wrapped up the game by completing 21 of 23 passes for 267 yards, tallying an impressive 5 touchdowns. Indiana heads to Iowa for another Big Ten clash next week, while Illinois aims to rebound as they host the rising USC Trojans.

This Friday night, the buzz was palpable as Class 6A No. 9-ranked Euless Trinity geared up to host Midland Legacy (Lee) in a highly anticipated matchup. The Trojans are led by standout cornerback John Meredith III, a top-tier athlete who's capturing national attention as the No. 1 cornerback in the country and the No. 2 recruit in Texas. With an astonishing score of .99986 on the 247Sports Composite and 40 offers to his name, it’s clear he’s destined for greatness. Joining him are D-I recruits Pupunagatoa Katoa, committed to SMU, and running back Juntavious “JT” Harris heading to Texas State. Trinity secured a victory of 28 to 16 against Midland Legacy (Lee) and looks to establish their superiority over Keller Central on September 12th.

In a thrilling start to the season, Byron Nelson opened with a solid 30-7 victory over Wolfforth Frenship, while Lewisville matched that energy with a decisive 34-7 win against Mansfield Summit. However, Byron Nelson found itself on the back foot after a strong comeback from Lewisville, ultimately falling 38-21 at Max Goldsmith Stadium. Despite trailing 9-0 early, Byron surged in the second quarter with standout connections between Parker Almanza and sophomore Nolan Hawkins. Lewisville's quarterback, Tre Williams, showcased his prowess with four touchdown passes, including three fierce strikes in the third quarter that underscored Xavier Fleming's dynamic play on defense. The defensive lineman, who has pledged his commitment to Houston University, was a relentless force against the Bobcats' offensive line.

In a thrilling season opener, South Carolina outlasted the Virginia Hokies, showcasing a powerful fourth-quarter surge that sealed their victory. Ranked No. 13 in the AP preseason poll—their first ranking since 2014—South Carolina wasted no time asserting dominance, with LaNorris Sellers delivering a 15-yard touchdown run on their opening drive. Though the Hokies fought back with 5th-year senior Kyron Drones connecting with standout receivers Ayden and Donavan Greene, Fred Johnson's end zone interception turned the tide. The highlight came when Vicari Swain electrified the crowd with an 80-yard punt return for a touchdown, driving the Gamecocks to a resounding 17-8 lead and setting the stage for an exhilarating season ahead. South Carolina secured a victory, kicking off the season with a 1-0 record. Heisman contender LaNorris Sellers showcased his talent, finishing the game with 12 completions out of 19 attempts for 209 passing yards and throwing for one touchdown. The Gamecocks are now set to host an in-state showdown on Saturday against South Carolina State.

In a tough season opener, the East Texas A&M University football team faced a formidable challenge against the No. 16-ranked SMU Mustangs, suffering a 42-13 defeat at Gerald R. Ford Stadium. Early fireworks lit up the night when Kevin Jennings connected with Romello Brinson for a stunning 63-yard touchdown on just the third play. The Mustangs showcased their dominance with two interceptions returned for touchdowns by Kilgore Alexander and Ahmaad Moses. Despite a valiant effort from the Lions, with Eric Rodriguez finding the end zone for their only score, they fell to 0-1 for the third consecutive year, having opened against tough FBS competition. The Lions are set to encounter their second consecutive ACC rival as they travel to Florida State for an 11 a.m. central kickoff, which will be broadcast on the ACC Network.

What a stunning upset we witnessed on Saturday as Florida State triumphed over the Alabama Crimson Tide! After a shaky start, the Seminoles took control, outscoring Bama 31-10, much to the exhilaration of the fans at Doak Campbell Stadium. Florida State's offensive explosion, featuring 21 points in the first half alone, was a remarkable turnaround compared to last season’s struggles against FBS teams. This victory not only ends a four-game streak against ranked opponents but also marks their first win over a top-10 team since they toppled No. 5 LSU in the 2023 opener. Every program has a defining victory that marks the dawn of a new era, and a season-opening triumph against Alabama heralds the beginning of the Mike Norvell era in Tallahassee.

All the pre-game chatter faded into the background once the pads started popping on Friday night. South Oak Cliff proved it deserves to be mentioned alongside Texas' elite by stunning North Shore with a 41-31 victory at Alonzo Williams Stadium. Remember last year's lopsided 38-0 defeat? This time, SOC came roaring back with nearly 500 total yards and a balanced attack. Quarterback Jayden Williams was stellar, tossing three TDs, while Mikail Trotter and Levon Morton combined for over 340 rushing yards, dominating North Shore's defense. Despite a valiant comeback from North Shore, SOC secured the win and left no doubt—they’ve arrived! SOC claims a 41-31 victory against a team they could potentially face again later in the season if both squads make a strong push in the Texas high school playoffs for the state!

What a night for Haynes King! With just 1:07 on the clock, he dashed 45 yards for a game-winning touchdown, sealing Georgia Tech's thrilling 27-20 victory over Deion Sanders’ Colorado at Folsom Field. "Number gets called, I do my job," King said, perfectly capturing the essence of his standout performance. He completed 13 of 20 passes for 143 yards, tossed an INT, and dazzled on the ground with 19 carries for 156 rushing yards, scoring three times. What a thrilling night for Tarleton State as Brad Larson nailed a clutch 37-yard field goal in double overtime, sealing a dramatic 30-27 victory over Army! This win marks just the second time the Texans have triumphed over an FBS team, breaking Army's impressive nine-game home winning streak. The game took a twist when Army's quarterback Dewayne Coleman left after an injury, leaving backup Cale Hellums to drive his team into field goal range. Unfortunately, freshman Dawson Jones missed the crucial 43-yard attempt in the final seconds of regulation. Despite both teams trading field goals in overtime, it was Larson's kick that clinched the victory for Tarleton. With standout performances from Victor Gabalis and Caleb Lewis, this was a game for the ages! Tarleton State now begins the young season with an impressive 2-0 record and stands as a formidable presence in FCS competition.

In the world of the NFL, few stories shine as brightly as that of Washington Commanders rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt, affectionately known as "Bill." This seventh-round gem is creating buzz as a key player for a contending team in 2025. Coaches and teammates rave about his skills, even as head coach Dan Quinn and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury urge caution on the hype train. With the Commanders trading Brian Robinson Jr. to the 49ers and Austin Ekeler facing age-related challenges, Croskey-Merritt has a golden opportunity to seize a starting role. He could very well emerge as a weekly starter, making him the riskiest yet most exciting sleeper player of the year—keep an eye on Bill!

No. 22 Iowa State edged out No. 17 Kansas State with a heart-stopping 24-21 victory, showcasing grit and tactical brilliance. The Cyclones, under coach Matt Campbell, delivered a pivotal moment with just over two minutes left on the clock. In a bold move, QB Rocco Becht opted for a fourth-and-3 conversion instead of a field goal, connecting with RB Carson Hansen, who made a daring catch just shy of the end zone. Becht, reflecting on the win, expressed his confidence in the play: “We’ve worked on it in practice,” he said, highlighting the trust in his team. Iowa State maintained its lead and secured a Week 0 victory, more significantly marking a win in the Big 12 Conference against Kansas State.

What a thrilling moment for Hawaii as kicker Kansei Matsuzawa drilled a clutch 38-yard field goal with no time left, securing the Rainbow Warriors' first victory over a Power Four team since 2019! Ending a disheartening streak of nine straight losses against such opponents, Hawaii (1-0) showcased resilience after Stanford (0-1) initially jumped to a 10-0 lead. With standout performances, including WR Pofele Ashlock’s nine catches for 69 yards and a touchdown, and Micah Alejado, Hawaii's quarterback, impressive 27 of 39 passing, Hawaii proved they’re not to be overlooked. Hawaii travels to Tucson to take on a soaring Arizona Wildcats team, while Stanford will idle for Labor Day weekend, preparing to clash with BYU for a Saturday night matchup in Provo on September 6th.

In a heartfelt moment that celebrated his monumental career, NFL legend Tom Brady expressed his "deeply grateful" feelings, albeit with a touch of humor about feeling "kind of old," at the unveiling of his impressive 12-foot statue outside the New England Patriots' stadium. This stunning bronze sculpture, featuring Brady triumphantly raising one arm, stands tall on a six-sided base–a fitting tribute to the six Super Bowl titles he clinched with the Patriots. The 17-foot overall height cleverly acknowledges his 17 AFC East division titles. Reflecting on his journey, the 48-year-old remarked, "I never dreamed I’d be standing here two and a half decades later made of bronze and frozen in time," perfectly encapsulating the legacy of one of football's greatest. Tom Brady is now immortalized outside Gillette Stadium, having secured his legacy as the all-time leader in games played in Patriots history.

In a dominating display, the Los Angeles Chargers outshined the Detroit Lions 34-7 in the Hall of Fame Game, marking a strong kickoff to the NFL preseason. Lance threw for 120 yards and two touchdowns, while the Lions, missing key stars like Jared Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown, opted to sit their top talents. Coach Dan Campbell's squad, fresh off a record-setting season, took it easy, leaving fans eager for their regular-season return. Meanwhile, Chargers’ coach Jim Harbaugh rested big names, but rookie Omarion Hampton showed promise with a couple of strong carries. With the Chargers' impressive start, it’s clear that Los Angeles has likely identified a reliable backup for starting quarterback Justin Herbert. The Chargers erupted for 13 unanswered points in the second half, ultimately securing a 34 to 7 victory in their first preseason game of the year.

Chris Paul has officially rejoined the Los Angeles Clippers, signing a one-year, $3.6 million deal, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. The 12-time All-Star, who dazzled fans during his previous stint in L.A. from 2011 to 2017, is set to enter his 21st NBA season, likely his final one, as reported by Chris Haynes. After an impressive year with the Spurs, where he played every game, Paul may not boast the scoring prowess of his prime, but as a seasoned floor general at 40, he continues to be an invaluable asset. It is evident that the Clippers have assembled a roster featuring players with experience alongside Bradley Beal and Chris Paul, complementing the talents of Kawhi Leonard and James Harden.

The Seattle Mariners backstop Cal Raleigh outlasted Rays slugger Junior Caminero to etch his name in baseball history as the first catcher ever to win the Home Run Derby. Not only did he make waves by achieving this feat, but he also became the first switch-hitter to win the Derby outright since Ruben Sierra shared the title in 1989. Entering the All-Star break with a jaw-dropping 38 home runs, Raleigh’s power numbers are nothing short of historic—blasting a tally that would be impressive for any player, let alone a catcher. Raleigh becomes the first catcher to win the MLB Home Run Derby and is sure to carry the momentum into the second half of the season.

The 2025 MLB draft showcased some incredible talent, with the Washington Nationals snagging Eli Willits, a shortstop from Fort Cobb-Broxton HS in Oklahoma. Known for his impressive hitting skills, Willits brings a tantalizing future power potential that raises some eyebrows. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Angels made waves with their second overall pick, right-handed pitcher Tyler Bremner from UC Santa Barbara, a curveball phenom poised to elevate their pitching staff. The Seattle Mariners followed suit by selecting left-hander Kade Anderson from LSU, who draws comparisons to Braves ace Max Fried. Don't overlook Colorado's Ethan Holliday pick at #4, a legacy pick as the son of Matt Holliday, and the Cardinals bolstered their ranks with strikeout machine Liam Doyle from Tennessee. The future of baseball is looking bright, and we can’t wait to see how these prospects shake up the game!

In a stunning turn of events, Derrick Lewis delivered a jaw-dropping knockout to Tallison Teixeira just 35 seconds into their heavyweight showdown Saturday night in Nashville. A powerful left hook caught Teixeira off guard, paving the way for a flurry of right hands that left fans and commentators in awe as the referee stepped in to stop the fight. This victory marks Lewis' impressive comeback, improving his record to 4-1 since the start of 2023 after a rough patch in the previous year. Now riding high as an underdog, Lewis is certainly a fighter to keep an eye on. What’s next for this heavyweight sensation?

It was truly Świątek’s day as the 24-year-old showcased her remarkable skills, wielding her forehand with precision to claim her first Wimbledon title, and her impressive sixth Grand Slam overall. Dominating Amanda Anisimova with a stunning 6-0, 6-0 scoreline—a feat unseen in women's Wimbledon finals since 1911—Świątek's performance was nothing short of historic. With three aces and a winning percentage of 72% on her first serves, her ability to capitalize on her opponent’s mistakes was pivotal. Now, as the eighth woman in the Open Era to secure Grand Slam titles on all surfaces, this victory adds yet another remarkable chapter to her burgeoning legacy.

In a thrilling night at Madison Square Garden, Katie Taylor edged out Amanda Serrano with a majority decision, two judges scoring it 97-93 for the Irishwoman, while the third had it even at 95-95. Though their third bout didn't quite match the electrifying heights of their previous encounters, it nonetheless delivered a gripping spectacle. Taylor exhibited clever strategy, managing her energy to pull ahead in the later rounds. Post-fight, the 39-year-old champion remained tight-lipped about her future, simply stating, “I just don’t want to fight Amanda Serrano again. She punches too hard.”

The Saints made a splash on social media this afternoon, unveiling a striking new white helmet that features a bold tri-color stripe design—a wide gold center flanked by thin black stripes and delicate white accents. After a 2022 experiment with a black shell, it’s clear the team is ready to turn heads! Fans can’t wait to see this sleek headgear paired with their all-white color rush uniform in the upcoming season, marking a first in franchise history. The team has yet to announce what games the Saints will wear the white helmet, as the Saints do not have a 2025 primetime game for standalone viewing windows.

Under the guidance of newly appointed coach Mauricio Pochettino, players like Diego Luna, Tyler Adams, and Mark Tillman are proving their potential for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup. Meanwhile, Mexico comes in strong, boasting a rock-solid defense and stellar goalkeeper Angel Malagon. With Edson Alvarez and Santi Gimenez leading the charge, this Sunday’s final is sure to be an unforgettable battle.

In an anticipated twist, the Dallas Mavericks struck gold by drafting Duke's Cooper Flagg as the No. 1 overall pick, igniting excitement across the NBA. The San Antonio Spurs quickly followed suit, snatching up Dylan Harper to complement their rising star, Wemby. While VJ Edgecombe to the Sixers felt pretty standard, Charlotte surprised many by drafting the draft's top shooter, Kon Knueppel, also from Duke. The intrigue continued as Utah selected Ace Bailey at No. 5, a player who hadn't showcased himself anywhere, and the Wizards bolstered their offense with Tre Johnson. With Jeremiah Fears kicking off Joe Dumars’ era in New Orleans and Brooklyn opting for BYU's Egor Demin at No. 8, the draft was anything but predictable. As the Bulls snagged French talent Noa Essengue and the Spurs added Carter Bryant at 14, it’s clear this draft was packed with potential and surprises.

The series kicked off with the Pacers surprising everyone by stealing Game 1 on the Thunder’s home turf, igniting palpable excitement across the nation. After a couple of back-and-forth games that culminated in a dramatic 3-3 tie, the stakes could not have been higher. Even after losing their All-Star, Tyrese Haliburton, to a devastating achilles tear in Game 7, the Pacers rallied with tenacity. However, it was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s stellar performance, scoring 29 points, that ultimately led the Thunder to claim their first championship in a thrilling finish. Jalen Williams added 20 points and Chet Holmgren's 5 blocks was a NBA Finals game 7 record. The future is now, and the Thunder are champions of the world!

On Thursday night, Indiana coach Rick Carlisle knew his squad needed to bring their A-game, and boy, did they deliver! Facing Oklahoma City in a crucial Game 6 of the NBA Finals, the Pacers rose to the occasion, tying the series at 3-3 with a stunning 108-91 victory. With four of the five starters in double figures and the bench erupting for 48 points—including six clutch three-pointers—the energy in Gainbridge Fieldhouse was electric. Obi Toppin shone brightest, leading the charge with 20 points. As the Thunder prepare for what’s sure to be their best performance yet, the Pacers' potent mix of talent and tenacity makes them a serious threat.

With a crowd in Omaha buzzing, Wood displayed pinpoint accuracy, racking up an impressive 19 strikeouts. However, the perfect game slipped away in the eighth when a breaking ball caught a Murray State batter, marking the Racers’ only baserunner of the day. After the game, Wood humbly remarked, “I shouldn’t have hit that batter,” showcasing his composed yet relentless spirit. The Racers are now eliminated, while Arkansas gears up to face the loser of the suspended LSU-UCLA matchup.

Although Indiana's bench, spearheaded by Obi Toppin, provided a spark in consecutive games, it fell short against a late surge from Oklahoma City. Game 5 is set for Monday in Oklahoma City, promising to be a pivotal matchup with significant implications for the pursuit of the NBA title.

What a gripping night in Omaha for the MCWS! The game kicked off with a pitching duel that left fans on the edge of their seats through three scoreless innings. Oregon State broke the deadlock in the fourth with a fielder's choice followed by a clutch single from Wilson Weber, taking a 2-0 lead over Louisville. The Cardinals fought back with a run in the sixth, thanks to Jake Munroe's timely single. Just when it seemed like Oregon State had secured the win with a third run, Louisville rallied in the ninth, tying the game with a flurry of action. But in a dramatic twist, Gavin Turley stepped up and delivered a walk-off double, sending Oregon State to the winner's bracket! What a way to enhance the excitement of the game!
