As the 2026 season approaches, the senior wide receiver and return specialist is gaining national attention, earning a spot on the Hispanic Player of the Year Watchlist, which complements his impressive college career.

This recognition highlights his performance and growing importance within the team. Coming off a standout 2025 season, Hernandez is set to be a key player for the Demon Deacons.  In 2025, he played all 13 games, starting eight, with 40 receptions for 611 yards and three touchdowns, while also contributing a rushing touchdown and excelling as a punt returner. His explosive playmaking was evident late in the season, with 23 receptions for 463 yards and three touchdowns in the final four games, including a standout performance against Delaware with five catches for 197 yards and two touchdowns, featuring a record-setting 93-yard catch.

Hernandez made his season debut on Thursday night against the Akron Zips, where he caught 5 passes for 165 yards and 1 touchdown. Carlos is expected to keep making significant contributions to the Demon Deacons offense in the ACC, particularly in forthcoming games against Purdue, Miami, and Louisville.
